Tens of students Gain Access to a Proper School Building in Khost

Kabul, February 27, 2021- A school building consisted of 10 classrooms, a couple of offices, five sets of toilets and a 65-meter deep well financed by the Education Quality Reform in Afghanistan (EQRA) Project under the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP) has recently been completed in Koz Karro village, Sabri district of Khost province.

The successful completion of the school building project has helped some 300 local boys and girls get access to a proper learning environment within their community.

Moreover, a total of 3,460 labor days have been created for both local skilled and unskilled laborers during the implementation of the school building project.

It is worth mentioning that hundreds of Citizens’ Charter-funded development projects are currently underway, while some of them have already been completed in various communities of Khost province.

EQRA seeks to increase equitable access to primary and secondary education, particularly for girls, in 17 selected provinces and improve learning conditions in Afghanistan. EQRA will introduce a shift from monitoring only student enrollment numbers (which include permanently absent students) to focusing on bringing children into school and tracking their attendance. The four components of the Project are 1: Equitable Access to Basic Education,       2: Improving Learning Conditions 3: Strengthening Education Sector Planning Capacity and Transparency, and 4: Technical assistance (to strengthen MOE’s capacity).

As of February 27, 2021 - a total of 731 school building projects (construction of new school buildings and provision of Missing Essential Elements for rehabilitation of existing school buildings) have been completed, 667 handed over to the Ministry of Education while 676 are ongoing out of 2,647 committed school projects in 17 provinces of Afghanistan.
