CDC female members generate employment opportunities

The Community Development Council (CDC) of Korak Uzbekia village; located in the center of Sar-e-Pul province has established a female tailoring training center in their community. The purpose of this center is to train local household women with tailoring and handicraft skills in order to improve their employment with increased income.

The CDC Secretary says: “Establishment of this tailoring center has helped a number of village women to find jobs and fulfill their families’ daily needs to a great extent.”

In the past, the female villagers used to struggle going to the center of the nearby districts to order and purchase clothing. However, this tailoring course has largely covered the community needs

Ms Dil Jan 28, a member of the education committee under Korak Uzbekia CDC has been appointed as the trainer in this center. In cooperation with her trainees, Ms Dil Jan managed to purchase a couple of sewing machines and other required equipment to initiate the tailoring course.

“I started working for the tailoring course along with few other CDC sub-committees’ members. Fortunately, we have more village women and girls now working here with a great interest.” Says Dil Jan.

Women play an equal role in planning, implementation and access to core infrastructure and social services along men members of the communities; actively participating in their Community Development Councils or CDCs under in Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program. The overarching goal is to amplify women’s voices, ensure they are heard so that they are able to participate in the development agenda of their communities that would contribute to one the main CCAP objectives – Strengthening Local Governance.
