May 12, 2021 - Two solar power projects capable of generating 17.2KW energy have successfully been completed in Namakaab district of Takhar province.

The solar power projects worth nearly six million Afghanis funded by the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP) including 10% community contribution (financial, labor or in-kind) have promoted the access of 143 households to power in a couple of villages including Toghdana and Tashbulaq.

The solar energy networks consisted of 98 solar panels, 60 batteries 250 ampere each and grid extension across the communities will help the local residents make use of electrical appliances in addition to lighting up their houses during the night.

Furthermore, tens of local skilled and unskilled laborers have been provided with short-term employment opportunities during the implementation of the solar projects in these two villages.

It is worth mentioning that a total of 50 solar projects, financed by the MRRD/CCNPP, are underway for the current fiscal year in various communities of Takhar province. It is expected that around 5,000 households will directly benefit from these projects once they have been completed.
