271 Development Projects Hand over in Logar Province
Kabul, November 17, 2020 – The Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP) has successfully completed and handed over 271 infrastructure projects in the communities belonging to Baraki Barak, Pul-e-Alam, Muhammad Agha and Khushi districts of Logar province in a number of sectors e.g. irrigation, water supply and transport.
The total cost of these projects is around AFN 665 million disbursed by the MRRD/CCNPP including 10% community contribution (financial, labor or in-kind).
Financed by the MRRD/CCNPP, the projects have been implemented through the Community Development councils (CDCs) in these four districts under the supervision of the Citizens’ Charter technical team.
These projects include construction of water-intakes, irrigation canals, protection walls, water control gates, water dividers, aqueducts, culverts, siphons, embankments, drops (irrigation waterfalls), irrigation reservoirs, tertiary roads and water supply networks.
In addition to directly benefiting some 88,611 families in the region, a total of 561,454 labor days have been created for both skilled and unskilled laborers during the projects implementation taking the casual employment and local economic recovery into consideration.
As estimated, the completed canal projects will pave the way for irrigation of 93,274 jiribs (equivalent to 18,655 hectares) of agricultural land in four districts of Logar province.
