PCCMC Meeting Held in Kandahar

Kabul. October 30, 2019 – The Provincial Citizens’ Charter Management Committee (PCCMC) meeting was held in Kandahar province today. The aim of this meeting was to enhance coordination and close working relationship between the rural and urban Community Development Councils (CDCs), Provincial Management Units (PMUs) and stakeholders; seek support from the relevant directorates to address the existing challenges; plan the PCCMC/DCCMC activities and resolve the grievances at province level.

Representatives of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (RRD), Education, Public Health and Agriculture Directorates, Independence Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG), district governors and CDC members participated at the meeting which was chaired by Kandahar governor.

More than 12,000 CDCs and 1,700 Cluster CDCs have been established so far; 8,500 development projects are under implementation and 2,000 projects have been completed successfully; totally 12 billion Afs have been disbursed to CDCs in rural areas that has resulted in generation of around 13 million labor days for both skilled and unskilled laborers. In addition, PCCMC and DCCMC have been established in 123 districts and 34 provinces. Further, 12,500 score cards have been completed by the communities across the country to ensure better public service delivery.

As a result, 12.5 million people across the country have benefited; around 4 million people accessed to safe drinking water; 3.1 million Jeribs of agricultural land irrigated; 9,300 KW electricity power generated as well as 710 KM roads and 450 meters of bridges constructed across in 34 provinces.

Currently, the survey, design and construction of 2,647 school buildings in 17 provinces of Afghanistan is underway. Tens of school buildings have been successfully completed in various provinces and the number is increasing on a daily basis. A considerable number of these completed school buildings will be officially handed over to the Ministry of Education in the near future, for public utilization.  

 Meanwhile, 1,700 projects are being implemented and 277 completed under the Maintenance and Construction Cash Grant (MCCG) project in nine provinces of the country.

7,700 grain banks worth USD 2.7 million have been established across the country which has benefited 65,000 families so far. The villagers have also dedicated 150 Jeribs of their agricultural lands to these grain banks to sustain the initiative.

Meanwhile in the urban side, 841 CDCs and 162 Guzar assemblies in four major cities (Mazar, Kandahar, Herat and Nangarhar) have been elected. Out of 965 approved projects underway; 88 of them have been successfully completed which has created over two million labor days for skilled and unskilled labor during the project implementation. To further improve the service delivery, 765 score cards have been completed so far. 1.4 million people have benefited through these efforts; 744 KM of roads are built; 1,000 meters side walk and bridges are constructed and 74 KM of water supply network in different provinces have been extended.
