Inauguration of Seven School Buildings under EQRA Project in Balkh Province

Balkh, June 09, 2019 – The construction of seven school buildings worth more than AFN 33 million funded by EQRA Project of Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP) officially started in Dehdadi district of Balkh province. The foundation stone was laid by H.E Muhammad Essa Qudrat the MRRD Deputy Minister of Programs and Bashir Ahmad Tawhidi, Balkh Deputy Governor with presence of the local officials and residents.

These seven school buildings are comprised of 6, 8 and 10 classrooms each will provide thousands of children to access to quality education and proper learning opportunities in Dehdadi district. As planned, 167 school buildings will be constructed under EQRA Project of MRRD/CCNPP in 14 districts of Balkh province including 92 schools with new buildings, and the rest include the facilities maintenance e.g. construction of boundary walls, latrines, excavation of wells, etc.

Based on instructions of H.E President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani, 6,000 school buildings will be constructed aiming to standardize the quality of education and create a suitable and appropriate learning environment for Afghan students across 34 provinces of Afghanistan within two years under the EQRA project of the MRRD/CCNPP.

The Citizens’ Charter is one of the core national priority programs of the Government of Afghanistan to reduce poverty and contribute to socio-economic growth. CCNPP ensures social welfare and sustainable development in both rural and urban communities across the country

CCNPP is a contract between the government and its citizens over a basic set of Minimum Service Standards (MSS) that will be provided by the Government to all communities in the country. The CCNPP MSS are shared across line ministries in an excellent new initiative of creating synergies and cross-collaboration in service delivery across sectors.
