The effectiveness of community development councils in the areas

Hasan Basri a CDC which is located in GA 1, municipal district 7 of Jalalabad city established during the Citizen Charter National Priority Program implementation dated 19-06-1397 comprised of 246 households.

Prior to the establishment of the this CDC, a resident of the mentioned community by the name of Haji Naseem forcefully was getting 300 Afs from the truck drivers who were loading/unloading sand and crush to the community people for home construction purposes. The truck drivers used to charge this particular amount on community while deploying the material for them which significantly increased the cost for the community people without any reason.

All the way through the implementation of the Citizen Charter National Priority Program, the CDC members were provided the office bearer training by explaining that the CDC members should regularly conduct meetings and discuss the various issues beyond CCAP inside the community. The CDC members realized their responsibility and authority and used to conduct regular meetings where the particular issue regarding getting of money from driver with no reason was also raised. The CDC members decided to meet Haji Naseem and advise him to stop this illegal activity otherwise they will not allow him doing this inside the neighborhood.

In the consequences of the efforts made by the CDC members, now neither the truck driver is paying illegally and nor members of the community paying extra charges. The cost of the loading/unloading has been decreased 300 Afs which is a positive change and was only possible because of the Citizen Charter National Priority Program and at the same time local governance works inside the community has been substantially improved.

The community people thanked the CDC members and Citizen Charter National Priority Program for bringing such a positive deviances and initiatives that help out poor community people in problem solutions.
