Citizens’ Charter Unites people for the Better Future
Citizens’ Charter Participatory Learning Actions (PLAs) tools helped Rabia Balkhi Gozar Assembly(GA) to take specific initiatives and resolve their core problems. In the past, the residents of this Gozar were not cooperating with each and had lost faith on community living values and collective work impact. But now, they are cooperating with each other and resolve their problems through different initiatives. Door to door clothes and accessories collection campaign for IDPs, Establishing primary library to improve literacy, cr eating community fund mechanism for poor women are the main initiatives have been taken by the Rabia Balkh Gozar members so far. Agricultural productivity is now increased in Karamar Village
Citizens’ Charter constructed retaining wall in Karamar village of Kunar province, helped the community to save hundreds jeribs of their agricultural lands from rainfalls season floods. Shir Muhammad, the CDC Head of Karamar village in Narang district says, “Our agricultural land is located in close proximity to a mountain range, most of our crops were at risk of flooding in the past. Our crops were usually washed away and submerged by floods during rainfalls when they were ready to be harvested. Fortunately, the construction of a retaining wall in our community has helped to secure more than 700 Jeribs of our agricultural land and largely increase the productivities as it prevented the mudslide and soil erosion around our lands in rainy seasons, especially when the water in rivers and streams turns red.” read more

Tree Planting and Waste Management Initiative
Ghamkhor Development Council (CDC) in Kandahar province operates tree planting and waste management programs in their community to keep their environment clean and neat. Ghamkhor CDC members understands that trees planting and waste management provide environmental, aesthetic, cultural and economic benefits to their community. Ghamkhor Development Council (CDC) is located in the 3rd Gozar of the 12th District of Kandahar City. The CDC has 5 Subcommittees in its formation of which one is Youth & Environmental Committee.
